Children, Youth, & Families

Welcome to the Children’s and Youth Ministry at St. George's! Our ministry seeks to create a space where young people are invited to explore, to serve, and to experience the love of God. We strive to foster a lifelong foundation of service, truth, community, compassion, and wonder through Christ. Want to learn more? Below are brief descriptions of the various offerings.

Please contact James Post, Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries, at james@stgeorge-nola.org to join! Each of these programs is open to all who would like to participate.
"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 18:3

What do we do?

Family Eucharist

Held monthly, Family Eucharist invites all members of the family to gather around the table, share a story, pray for one another, and celebrate the Love of God. It is an interactive, loud, and most fun way to worship. A fantastic way for new families to see what we are all about!

Sunday School

Held each Sunday during the 10:30am service, Sunday School creates a space where we can explore the readings for that day through crafts, games, prayer, and discussion. Students are challenged to consider the ways in which they are called to love themselves, each other, and all of creation.

Youth Groups

St. George's participates in the New Orleans Episcopal Youth Group (NOLA EYG), a city-wide youth group for both middle and high school students. This group meets monthly, for fellowship and peer-led conversation around questions of faith. We begin with a communal meal, and then separate between middle and high school for conversation.

Little Dragons

Open each Sunday during the 10:30am service, Little Dragons is for our littlest parishioners ages 1-5. Our classroom is full of developmentally appropriate toys, games, stories, and activities for young children. Our Little Dragon teachers are there to guide our littlest ones as they make new friends in our church community.

Meet the Team!

We are blessed to have an outstanding group of Children's and Youth ministers who share their talents, experiences, and love with our young people. Please get to know them a little bit better in the space below!

All youth ministers come from the congregation, are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, have passed a background check, and have completed courses in "Safeguarding God’s Children & Safeguarding God’s People" through the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana.

What do you love about Sunday School?

I love that Sunday School is a place for kids to have fun, make friends, and know that they are loved.

"Outside of church, I like to..."

Ride my bike all around town, play ultimate frisbee, walk with my dog, read by The Fly, listen to live music, and get to meet as many people as I can!

Ms. Carla

What do you love about Sunday School?

I love working with young children and sharing God's love.

"Outside of church I like too..."

Teach children music, take long walks with my dog Norbert in the park, spend time with my family including my husband, parents and two sons and visit places around New Orleans.
